Carolina Hoyos and Ken Franklin are the architects behind the music project A Girl I Know. They are also former band-mates from Two Birds and cast-mates from the film Roses Of April. The debut single “Bang Bang Bang” features Jeremiah Bitsui who is most recently known for playing the part as Victor in the smash TV show “Breaking Bad”. A Girl I Know recorded their album in several studios, bedrooms and living rooms up and down the west coast of the USA. The debut single “Bang Bang Bang” will be released on September 18, 2012 and features a mash-up of genres comparable to M.I.A., Beck and everything in between.

Carolina Hoyos

Carolina Hoyos is a musician and an actor who has not stopped playing her heart out since she was two years old. After a short stint as a child concert pianist she focused on acting. Carolina fronted a variety of bands while dabbling with many instruments to find her true sound while moonlighting as a film actor and an on-air panelist for MTV Hits.

As an actor Carolina is often typecast as the musician and/or homeless tough girl, often featuring her own music and weathered clothing from her life on the road. Carolina’s former band, Morgan Ave, has appeared in the films 13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner and Shooting Livien with Dominic Monhagan. Carolina has also appeared as herself on TV reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels. She is a member of all Native American comedy troupe The Mayflower Welcoming Committee and Artist Ensemble Native Voices at the Autry. Carolina has shared the stage with Eddie Van Halen, Ryan Adams and members of Guns N’ Roses. A hip-hop collaboration “The Difference” with MC Ra and DJ Caspr is featured alongside Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent on the Zoo York – E.S.T 4.0 skate video soundtrack.

Ken Franklin

Ken Franklin is musician and an actor. Carolina and Ken met on the set of the film Roses of April where they played college roommates in flight school. Off the set they supported each other busking on the streets of Los Angeles. On their very first outing at the Santa Monica Promenade they were successfully scouted for a Motorola music campaign where their original music was used.

Soon after Carolina and Ken called this collaboration Two Birds. The next chapter in that story is A Girl I Know.

Jeremiah Bitsui

Jeremiah Bitsui is an actor and musician. Jeremiah made his first public appearance in Oliver Stone’s film Natural Born Killers. More recently he is best known for playing Victor in the smash TV series Breaking Bad. He has also appeared in Lords of Dogtown and the AMC miniseries Into the West as well as starring in several independent features.

“Bang Bang Bang” is Jeremiah’s debut music performance on what was originally slated to be a remix of the single.

Bursting forth from Canada’s capital, native Producer/DJ crew A Tribe Called Red is producing a truly unique sound that’s impacting the global electronic scene and urban club culture. Since 2010 the group – currently made up DJ NDN, Bear Witness and 2oolman – has been mixing traditional pow wow vocals and drumming with cutting-edge electronic music. Their self-titled album, released in March 2012, was long-listed for Canada’s prestigious Polaris Music Prize and included in the Washington Post’s top 10 albums of the year.

In a sense, ATCR’s music is the soundtrack to a contemporary evolution of the pow wow: their Electric Pow Wow events in Ottawa showcase native talent and aboriginal culture, alongside an open, wild party. Within a couple of years they’ve become the face of an urban Native youth renaissance, championing their heritage and speaking out on aboriginal issues, while being on top of popular music, fashion and art. Bear Witness doubles as the crew’s visual artist and creates stunning, political and sometimes humorous videos that incorporate film and pop culture references to native people and reclaim the aboriginal image. On May 7th, A Tribe Called Red released their second full-length album, Nation II Nation in Canada and in the USA on Tribal Spirit Music. The album was nominated on the shortlist of the Polaris Music Prize as one of the 10 best Canadian album of the year and 4 APCMAs (Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award) for best group, best producer, best album and best cover art. ATCR have also collaborated and produced one of the last known Das Racist song called Indians From All Directions as well as the song A Tribe Called Red on Angel Haze’s album Dirty Gold.

Artson has always had a love for the arts of Hip Hop. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, it was the dance that first caught his eye and opened the doors to the culture that would eventually transform him and become his life. He first discovered B-boying (breakdancing) on the basketball courts, parks, and streets of nearby neighborhoods where he grew up.

After appearing on stage for the first time a few years later, he fell in love with rockin’ the mic for the masses, and his quest to be a musical artist was born.  In the mid 90s, Artson and some friends got their first set of musical equipment; a four track, a sampler, and a mic. Recording, sampling, and buying records became part of their daily ritual.

He currently lives in Long Beach and continues to travel throughout the world performing and giving back to the community by throwing bboy competitions and Hip Hop festivals designed to educate the youth about Hip Hop culture and preserve the arts. Having graduated from pupil to teacher, Artson professes to always remain a student of Hip Hop culture.

Spawned from its roots in Hip Hop, Audiopharmacy extends its repertoire beyond the genre. By intricately fusing live instrumentation, global musical styles, and indigenous roots, the band’s audio healing re-defines the meaning and the sound of “World Hip Hop”. By pulling together inspiration from all corners of the earth, Audiopharmacy makes music that is unique & avant-garde, yet always speaks the language of the people.

pAudiopharmacy has been strongly rooted in community and based in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 15 years, performing in countless community events to support diverse and important causes throughout the Bay Area and has a solid base of new and long-time fans from all walks of life, including fellow musicians, artists, and activists. Additionally, the band has had the opportunity and privilege to tour and travel all over the world and back.

pIn both 2013 and 2014, Audiopharmacy was chosen out of 300 bands nation-wide for their musical excellence and educational capability as US Music and Cultural Ambassadors for the American Music Abroad Program by American Voices and U.S. Department of State’s Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The band successfully fostered cross-cultural engagement and understanding through their music, performances, workshops and daily interactions, and was awarded the Mayoral Proclamation by the City & County of San Francisco upon returning home from their first tour.

Hailing from South Dakota, B. of Dakota South Records is one of the quickest rising Native American artists in the industry with his self-titled debut album featuring Hopsin, Spice 1, G. Baby Prince of G-Unit West, and platinum producer Lex Lucazi having been nominated for five music awards and winning two of the awards the album was nominated.

Following the success of his first album, he released his long awaited sophomore album, “OHHH! B.” on February 14^th, 2016.  The new album was exclusively produced by Lex Lucazi, who received platinum accreditation for his work on T.I. vs. T.I.P. and features the hit single “Come and Get Your Love” containing an authorized sample of the 1974 Top 5 Billboard 100 single from Redbone. “Come and Get Your Love” received Single of the Year honors at the 2016 Native American Music Awards in New York. “OHHH! B.” was also nominated for Best in Hip Hop for “Come and Get Your Love”, Best in Pop for “My Whole World” ft. Bert Malcom, and Best in Rock for “Unknown” ft. juQ at the Indian Summer Music Awards in Milwaukee, WI. In addition, B. of Dakota South Records is currently in consideration for three additional awards by the RockWired Reader’s Poll Awards including Best Male Artist, Best American Indian/First Nation Artist and/or Band, and Best Performance by an American Indian/First Nations Artist and/or Band for “Come and Get Your Love”. Winners of the 2017 Rockwired Reader’s Poll Awards will be announced on January 27^th.

Brandis B. Knudsen grew up across the state of South Dakota, where he was influenced by multiple cultures and genres of music and found love in the art of Hip-Hop. But it wasn’t until losing a close friend in 2007, that he realized that tomorrow wasn’t promised to anyone and began his quest to follow the dream that he and his late friend had grown up only fantasizing about. After recording his first studio single the summer of 2007, he founded Dakota South Records as an underground label which saw quick growth and serious potential for a larger market after opening for artists such as Lil’ Jon, Bubba Sparxxx, Three 6 Mafia, and The Ying Yang Twins.

At the end of 2009, Knudsen licensed Dakota South Records, LLC with the state of South Dakota and began working on his self-titled debut album, B. of Dakota South Records which features XXL Freshman Class of 2012 artist Hopsin (who also was featured on “Am I a Psycho” by Tech N9n and also featuring B.O.B.), West Coast Legend Spice 1, G. Baby Prince of G-Unit West, and production from platinum producer Lex Lucazi (T.I., T-Pain, The Outlaws, etc.). The album was officially released on February 14^th, 2012 and is available on CD Baby, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Spotify and more. It is also available at local retail stores across South Dakota including Last Stop CD Shop, Ernie November, Urban City, Prairie Edge, and Black Hills Vinyl.

B. of Dakota South Records was also named one of the 2012 Mid-West Rising Artists by D.I.A. Radio. The single “I Miss You” was nominated for Best Hip Hop at the 2012 Indian Summer Music Awards and selected by RockWired Magazine as one of “25 Songs from Indian Country You’ve Got to Hear.” His album was nominated for Best Rap/Hip Hop Recording by the 2012 Native American Music Awards and Best Rap/Hip Hop Album by the 2013 Aboriginal People’s Choice Awards. He won the awards for Best Male Artist and Best Recording by a First Nations/American Indian Artist/Band at the 2014 RockWired Radio Music Awards.

Since beginning his music career, his single “Just B.” was featured on C-Nice-1 Presents The 605 Mixtape, a compilation of rising artist from the state of South Dakota, in 2009. B. of Dakota South Records has also been featured in multiple times in Native Max Magazine, RockWired Magazine, Native Sun News, and Lakota Country Times. The Rapid City Journal has also covered his Single of the Year honors by the NAMA. He has also received coverage in 605 Magazine, The Flyest Magazine, and other printed publications as well as online including PowWows.com and LastRealIndians.com. In addition, Knudsen has been interviewed by local television station, Black Hills Fox News and KOTA Territory News. He  was seen on an episode of cables Tru TV channel’s reality show “Full Throttle”. He also opened up for Tech N9ne, Machine Gun Kelly, Paul Wall, Afroman, Mayday, Krizz Kaliko, Prozak, Kutt Calhoun, Stevie Stone, Jay Rock, Flawless, MC Magic, Big Gemini, and Former NFL Player Reggie Stephens. He has modeled for Special Image Clothing and T-Unit Custom Apparel and had launched his own Dakota South Records branded line of merchandise.

Dakota South Records has also participated in several community fundraisers and charity events including The Hip Hop Feeds Community Concert at National American University (Black Hills Food Pantry), The HIV/AIDS Awareness Day at The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, The Tsunami Relief Concert at The Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn, The Heal Haiti Benefit Concert, HOT 93.1 Appreciation Party, Music 4 Life for The American Cancer Society (Sponsored by KOTA Territory-ABC) and has worked with other organizations and charity events, including motivational speaking presentations to students at The Lincoln Academy in Rapid City, SD where he discusses his record label, the music business, following dreams, and the importance of education. B. of Dakota South Records has also spoke at Black Hills State University’s American Indian Awareness Speakers Series, “STRONG: Solid Tribal Roots Offer New Growth”.

At the young age of 19 Métis recording artist Ben G. released his first EP ‘Cut You In’ the disc gained international critical acclaim, radio play, magazine cover features and multiple awards as well as an endorsement deal with Frankenstein Guitars. This lead to a very busy tour, and appearance schedule 2008-2009. The track “Addiction” became a minor YouTube hit reaching #98 most watched video in Canada, upon its release. “Cut You In” was selected to be part of Cweedbands Aboriginal Music Display in Zeus and CD Plus stores across Canada. He was artist of the month in March 2009, and “Addiction” was featured in a T.V commercial on APTN alongside Derek Miller and Crystal Shawanda. In late 2009 Ben played club shows and festivals testing out new songs and reading the crowds response to gauge what would work best on his next album.

Fall 2010 Ben released his full length debut ‘Stories I Tell’ which was extremely well received in numerous reviews in Canada and the USA. He took more control as co-producer on many of the tracks. The lead single ‘Getaway’ made its radio debut on CKXS Wallaceburg. The song was described as “a terrific choice for the lead single and embodies everything one could wish for in a smart pop rock song” by music critic Bill Sullivan writer for the Rock and Roll Report in the USA. He made sure to expand his touring range around Ontario and played both with a band as well as solo/acoustic for smaller clubs.

The hard work spawned a Youtube hit with the music video for ‘Light My Way’ which reached the #13 spot landing right next to Beyoncé on its release day. The romantic story line appealed greatly to his fan base. Popular video blogger Chantal McCulligh helped create viral interest through social media, playing his love interest in the production. The fourth single off the album ‘Emptiness’ was added on CBC Radio 1,2, and 3. It also reached the semi-finals in the “Street Idol’ competition at Canadian Music Week in 2011. This lead to a licensing deal for “Stories I Tell” with Juno Winner Jeff Burns at Blue Sapphire who has signed the likes of Nickel Back, Tal Buchman and more.

As of 2013 Ben is focusing on marketing himself as a writer and has penned singles with Canadian artists Laura Gagnon, and Gal Harper. Ben helped mentor Gal through a winning campaign at the Jack Richardson Music Awards in 2013 for ‘Fan Favorite Original Artist’. His single “Without You” will be released to secondary and satellite radio stations this fall prior to the release of his E.P ‘Rise and Shine’.

Ben hopes to reach new audiences through song placements with exciting new artists and features on nationally syndicated T.V shows, he also can’t wait to create another album!

Brutis Baez grew up on the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon and also in California. He feels equally comfortable on the Rez or hitting the city streets. He learned traditional teachings from his mother’s family and continues to participate in ceremonies. He is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and is Warm Springs, Wasco and Nez Perce.

Brutis has been at KWSO since 2006 and has worked his way up to Operations Manager. He also started a Native Hip Hop Radio Show called “Groove Central’ which is now on the Native Voice One Radio Network. This non-commercial radio show helps promote Native R&B and Hip Hop artists on radios across Indian country.

Bigg B has also been doing music since 2003 and has released two solo CDs “ Lifestyle Muzik” and “The Bigg Inspiration.” He has also worked with the Rezhogs and released “All Day All Night” which won a Native American Music Award in 2010. A new CD Titled “Double Feature” was also released in April of 2013 with N8 of the Rezhogs.

Music, Producing, Announcing and Promoting is what Brutis loves. Learning new technology and fine tuning his skills keep him excited about work. His family and friends help him keep his feet on solid ground.

Blackkiss was born back in 2004 when Pete Sands bought his first guitar, an old SE Martin dreadnaught with a black pearl finish just like Johnny Cash’s. The name actually came from a revelation from an old Chilean woman who told him, “You’re like the Sun and Moon at the same time. You are the light and dark, like a Black kiss…” So when Pete started making music he stuck with “Blackkiss”, a musical style that’s a mixture of a lot of different aspects of music and lifestyles.

Blackkiss is a desert born acoustic music coming straight from the heart of the Navajo-Indian Reservaton. Founder and leader Pete Sands grew up listening to the old country songs from the likes of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and at the same time learning the songs of his ancient culture. In 2007, after a year of playing open mic nights, Sands recorded his first Demo “Black Occasion” under the Blackkiss name. Sands took the Blackkiss sounds throughout Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas until landing his first major break at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Often compared to Johnny Cash’s American Recording’s Era, Blackkiss took a huge step forward by releasing his first full length debut album “Dirt Dance Floor” in November 2014. Due to their truly unique desert sound Blackkiss has been labeled as gritty and bare-boned Country Music.

Blackkiss has played shows at the Sundance Film Festival, the Thunder Country Fest 2014 (w/ Bucky Covington, Lonestar, Mark Wills, etc), the America Loves Bacon Fest, opening for John Moreland, Two Car Garage, Matt Woods, and Pete Sands’ all-time favorite Whitey Morgan & the 78’s. They just recently finished their first ever California tour gaining a whole new audience in the wake of the Dark Country tunes and even headlining at the world famous Viper Room.

Withe is made up of Candace Curr (Nuu-chah-nulth ) and Rob Thomson (Haida). The two met after both were invited to participate in Aboriginal Music Performers Camp 2014 through Aboriginal Music and Manitoba Music. Upon returning to Vancouver, and discovering a mutual appreciation for indie music, they decided to collaborate and here began Withe. The name itself is in reference to Cedar-withes which are the extremely strong, yet flexible part of a cedar branch. On the pacific northwest coast they were used in making binding and rope by Nuu-chah-nulth whalers and by the Haida people to bind their home posts together. Candace and Rob saw a beautiful correlation as performers, as the more “withes” that are woven together, the stronger the binding becomes.

To each members of Dark Water Rising, kinship is essential. Ties of kinship within the band’s Native American communities helped to establish the band in 2008. Today, those same Native roots provide the framework for the band’s sound, which they describe as “rocky soul.”

The band attributes their style of playing and singing to a combination of influences, which range from attending Sunday morning worship services to absorbing the diverse styles and tones of artists like Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, the Bee Gees, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

DWR explores various themes of life — love, heartbreak, sacrifice, celebration, despair, pain — all while expressing and evoking sincere emotion on issues affecting contemporary Native American communities.

Dark Water Rising has two albums under their belt to date: self-titled release “Dark Water Rising” (2010) and “Grace & Grit: Chapter 1” (2012). The band has performed throughout the East Coast, has garnered considerable radio airplay, appeared on NPR’s “The Story with Dick Gordon” and “The State of Things”, and has earned a Native American Music Award for “Debut Duo or Group of the Year” (2010).

Dark Water Rising — comprised of powerhouse artists Charly Lowry (vocals/rhythm guitar/percussion), Aaron Locklear (keys/guitar/drums), Corey Locklear (lead guitar), Tony Murnahan (bass) and Emily Musolino (vocals/lead guitar/bass) — continues to grow and amaze each time they perform.

Def-i is a Albuquerque native, representing the Southwest’s Hip-Hop Scene as a member of New Mexico’s Foundations of Freedom Crew, Skull Control Records, Chief Rockers, and Definition Rare. His style is multifaceted. His stockpile is all-inclusive: Hip-Hop, Spoken Word/Acapella, Instrumental, Breakbeat, Lyrical, Beatboxing, Downtempo, Underground/Freestyle Rap, Contemporary, and Native American. 

DJ Shub (Mohawk), formerly of A Tribe Called Red, is a title earning DJ and award winning music producer. He lives in Fort Erie, Ontario and counts two DMC Canada DJ Championship titles (2007 and 2008), a DMC Canadian Battle for Supremacy title (2008), a Canadian Red Bull Thre3style title (2012), and a King of the Dot Canada vs. USA DJ battle win along with trophies from the JUNO Awards and the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards as some of his most notable accomplishments.

Doc Battiest, a performance artist and talented music producer, runs his own sound studio in Hollywood, Florida. As a child, Doc traveled with his family’s gospel tour all over the country developing his ear for music and his eye for dramatic stylings. He spent his early teens honing those skills before taking time off from the stage. He returned to his musical roots at age 16, when he began arranging, writing and performing hip hop and rap.

Don Amero is a powerful stylist, Juno nominee, and engaging storyteller. His latest album, Refined, is giving genuine music fans a taste of the real deal, as he melts Canadian hearts from coast to coast. With silky vocals, a lovable stage presence, and a soulful sound that’s been likened to Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, and Jack Johnson, Don brings his own brand of percussion‐style guitar play and delightful approachability to every corporate function, gig, and festival he plays.

A true musical talent without the rock-star attitude, Don is an artist first. His approach to his craft is rewarded every day, with accolades like “that voice is amazing,” “you’ve got a voice like silk,” and “I’m blown away by your ability.” Making beautiful music across five albums, Don impresses wherever he goes with his messages of encouragement, positivity, and beauty — and his desire to get out and chat with fans, no matter the venue.

Don’s first four albums generated nine national and international awards, as well as a Juno nomination in 2013. His tireless work ethic, talent, ambition, and determination have also made him an inspiration to Aboriginal youth. Raised in the notoriously tough north end of Winnipeg, Don faced his share of adversity growing up. Yet, despite the poverty, gangs, drugs, and violence that surrounded him, his life was tempered by love, support, and faith in a higher power.

Jeremiah Manitopyes, also known as Drezus began rapping at a young age. Turning poetry into rhymes that fit the beat, he caught on quickly. His first recording session was with the pioneering native hip hop group Warparty. Living in Saskatoon at the time, he began releasing tracks and mix tapes helping to form Stressed Street Records with label owner Joey Stylez who had launched his own successful career, as well. While “Dro” was living in Saskatoon, Stomp formerly of Warparty created his own production group with Jaymak called Rezofficial. “Dro” would soon become Drezus under the new Team Rezofficial imprint. They released 2 critically acclaimed albums under EMI distribution, were nominated for a Juno in 2009 and racked up multiple aboriginal awards, appearing on TV specials, radios spots and earning themselves a trip to number one on Much Music’s Rap City Top Ten Countdown with their single “Lonely”. Team Rezofficial made a huge impact on the Canadian music scene before parting ways, leading Drezus to become a solo force. He released 2 mixtapes, Drezus Walks (2011), Big Baby Dreez (2012) and in 2013, he released the award winning album “Redwinter”. The lead single “Redwinter” became the anthem for the First Nation’s grassroots movement “Idle No More”. Drezus also picked up the Best Hip Hop Award at the 2013 Aboriginal Peoples Choice awards for “Redwinter” and has been creating an enormous online buzz including coverage by APTN, Mic.com, VICE and Hip Hop Canada. In September 2015, Drezus took home 4 out of 4 awards at the 2015 Indigenous Music Awards including Indigenous Entertainer of the Year, Best Hip Hop CD, Best Music Video and Best Producer. Creating new fans all over the world and gathering press from countless online publications, he attributes his recent success to his reconnection with the First Nations culture and traditions. Fusing hip-hop knowledge and braggadocio with ancient wisdom handed down from his ancestors, Drezus finds himself in a lane he can call his own. His latest release, Indian Summer, has been getting rave reviews with the powerhouse single leading the “Warpath”.

Frank Waln is an award winning Hip Hop artist/producer/performer. He stands for media that speaks truth to power and works toward Indigenous peoples being happy, healthy and respected. He uses his voice, music and performance to make statements about his reality as a young Indigenous person and to address the issues effecting Indigenous communities.

Frank is Sicangu Lakota and an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe where he was born and raised. He is a Gates Millennium Scholar currently studying Audio Design and Music Production at Columbia College of Chicago. He has been a recipient of the 2011 Howard Yackus Memorial Scholarship Award from the National Indian and Native American Employment and Training Conference; a featured speaker at the 2011 South Dakota Indian Business Conference; and a 2012-2013/2013-2014 First Peoples Fund Artist in Business Leadership Grant Fellow. He has also been featured in many publications, most notably, Colorlines Magazine, mtvU, The Chicago Tribune, Native Sun News, Indian Country Today Media Network, Lakota Country Times, Powwows.com and Winds of Change Magazine. Frank currently lives and works in Chicago, IL.

To know that another world is possible, and bring it to life through music; this has always been the mission of emcee Gabriel Teodros. He first made a mark with the group Abyssinian Creole, and reached an international audience with his critically-acclaimed solo debut Lovework. He has since set stages on fire all across the US, Canada, Mexico and Ethiopia; performing alongside the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def & Talib Kweli, Zap Mama, Digable Planets and Fishbone to name a few. 2012 saw the release of 2 more critically-acclaimed albums, Teodros’ solo Colored People’s Time Machine, as well as CopperWire’s Earthbound; a space opera of a hip hop ride (set in the year 2089) that Teodros recorded with fellow Ethiopian-American artists Meklit Hadero and Burntface. In 2014 Teodros released 2 solo projects: Children Of The Dragon – another journey through time, Hip Hop, Ethiopian musical traditions and shifting homelands with Washington, DC-based producer AirMe, followed by Evidence Of Things Not Seen – a James Baldwin-inspired portrait of right now with Auckland, New Zealand-based producer SoulChef. In 2015, Teodros made his speculative fiction debut with a story published in Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements (AK Press, April 2015)

Rhonda “Honey” DuVall is an Inspirational Advocate, Singer, Songwriter and Performing Artist. Injunuity is a Native American flute-centric roots group forged in 2007 by award winning composers Brad Clonch (Mississippi Choctaw) and Jeff Carpenter (Chickasaw). Immediately this cultural sound and blend of genres drew attention, leading to the addition of two members; Philip Sullivan and Brian Harrison.

The inspiration drawn for all original tracks and compositions are based off the ability to experience tribal culture and life daily in Oklahoma, as well as interaction among other tribes, historians, storytellers, and even trips to the original homelands of the Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Cherokee people. Injunuity’s music promotes the introduction of Native American music and history into popular culture, helping break stereotypes about Native Americans and the music within the Indian Culture. Lazarus is a 23 year old Mexican American hip hop artist from Compton, Ca.

Growing up in Compton, Lazarus saw and did many things that affected his life.

To turn away from the drugs and alcohol that plagued the streets he was brought up on, he used music as an escape to bring hope and change to the community. After a life changing church retreat he used his talents and gifts to bring positive messages to his fans in hopes to stand out and reach out to those broken and hurting. His goals are to one day be involved in a life changing ministry and focuses on performances in churches and other non religious events.

MC RedCloud, from the City of Hawthorne, is an indigenous legend with a highly exalted live performance track record. A California Native and Huichol Indian (Jalisco, Mexico), MC RedCloud began his underground supremacy when his freestyles where heard over the radio airwaves, as he defeated numerous opponents on Power 106 with Felli Fel. RedCloud signed with Syntax/Koch in 2000 and moved well over 40,000 units of his releases. RedCloud is a “Tour Monster” and has seen 60 Nationwide dates in a row with TECH N9NE and MURS.

These OKC brothers are from the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. Though they may look-a-like they are not twins and though they are shorter than everyone else, they are considered too tall to be midgets. But what Mike Bone lack in height they make-up for in talent and have been developing their skills not just as rappers, but as performance artists. They have spent years making the rounds at clubs, churches, casinos, children’s birthday parties, car shows & even retirement homes and were featured on the hit TV series America’s Got Talent. The duo independently produced recordings & booked shows as stepping stones to their dream of reaching the world. Their extreme faith in GOD is definitely an eye catcher, hence the name Crunk Natives with the motto “Love GOD & Party.”

Lil’ Mike grew up a problem child. By the age of 10, he had already suffered more than most kids his age. Mike endured abuse, bouts of depression and threatened suicide. Being small and poor didn’t help, but with the help of the Heavenly Father, Mike escaped gang life and put all his time into Michael Jackson like dance & writing poetry, giving him the courage to stand tall in the spotlight. Mike says, “Christian Music helped with his life change. Mike realized he had a message to share, that could help other kids avoid gangs. He could show them that no matter how many obstacles you face, God can help you through them & that being a Christian isn’t “so lame”.

Funny Bone, an acronym for “Fully United New Nourished Young Brother of Noble Essence” says “My life has been relatively normal – no thugs or drama.” I’m like exactly the amount of years younger than Mike to miss all of that stuff.” He was only a child when his older brother helped him use his talent for rapping & telling jokes on stage. Bone says, “the music business is pretty much their only job, besides weekends at Old Paris flea market in OKC, “405 Music.”

Miracle Dolls is an Alternative / Punk / Indie band from Southern California. The band is a trio fronted by twin sisters Dani Doll and Dezy Doll. Dani and Dezy are members of the Hidatsa tribe of the Three Affiliated Tribes from Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, North Dakota. The name “Miracle Dolls” came from an aspiration their mother had. Miracle Dolls have been featured on Fuse Television and in Recording Magazine and played “Warped Tour” and “Gathering of the Nations” to name a few festivals. Their latest record “Kiss Me Auras” was produced by John Avila of Oingo Boingo.

N8 Winishut is a Rezhogs member and solo artist. He has an upcoming album “Alien” from Lab Rat Recordings/Bigg Music/Rezhog Records. The “No Radio” video was directed by Brutis Baez of Sacred Ground Entertainment and feature N8 on vocal and chorus. Set to a self-produced music track N8 incorporates catchy melodic vocals and smooth rhyme delivery into a tune both hiphop and non-hip hop fans can enjoy.

Nahko Bear is an American musician. He was born in Portland, Oregon. He has a mixed ethnic background which includes Apache, Puerto Rican, and Filipino descent. He began playing piano at age six. His creative inspiration is the desire to bridge cultural gaps. Nahko Bear has been musically inclined since the age of six when he started learning piano. As he grew older, Nahko remained tied to music as a piano teacher and casual songwriter. Nahko’s songwriting became grassroots oriented around 2012 during which time he would travel around the US by van with his dog. In 2008 Nahko formed Medicine for the People. They are an American world music musical collective, their music being a fusion of various cultural musical influences.

Over the last couple of years, Halifax-based trio Neon Dreams have rapidly emerged as one of the brightest new stars on the Canadian music horizon. The success story they are writing has long and deep roots, however, for Frank Kadillac, Adrian Morris, and Matt Gats have been playing together in different configurations for the last nine years. The result is a tight-knit band with a strong personal and musical foundation, one destined to help Neon Dreams go a long way in the business.

Neon Dreams are now readying the release of a new EP, Wolf, Princess & Me, set to come out on Dreaming Out Loud on Sept. 22.

This release comes hot on the heels of another radio hit single, “Find A Way.” Featuring the guest vocals of Sarah Mark, it is an infectious track perfectly timed for the summer season.

The fact that the group beat out such prominent fellow nominees as Shaun Frank, Tory Lanez and Party Next Door in that category definitely placed Neon Dreams on the music industry radar.

Frank Kadillac and Matt Gats first started playing together in high school, as Matt recalls. “We both didn’t go to class very much and the music teacher was nice enough to let us hang out in the music room. We’d hang out and once a week Frank would ask about starting a band. He started getting better at a rapid pace and I was like ‘we’re definitely going to do this.’ We have never looked back.”

Adrian Morris (Algonquin of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation) joined the party shortly after. He explains that “they had another drummer, but he dropped out just before they had a big show coming up. They started asking around, and one of their buddies was a mutual friend. He said ‘check out this guy on YouTube,” as I’d put up a video of me playing drums that had gone viral, with nearly a million views. They called me up, saying they had a big gig in three days. I quickly learned all their songs and did the show.”

That core trio stuck together through a couple of different musical incarnations. One of these was a pop-punk quintet that made a splash locally.

The musical tastes of the guys then evolved, first into hiphop and then electronics. Matt explains that “when these bands came along incorporating electronics and rock, we wanted to do that too. We started a new group, and that’s when Corey LeRue started performing with us.” LeRue was a Halifax-based DJ and producer, and his influence would be crucial to the development of the Neon Dreams sound.

Niiko Soul is a 22 year old Dakota-Metis producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from London, Ontario, Canada. Inspired by super producers such as Dr. Luke and Mark Ronson, Soul strives to create polished pieces that compete on the world stage with unique yet accessible character and feeling. Niiko’s incredible sense of musicality and diverse background allows him to attack projects of all genres with the same tenacity and competency. On Tuesday, September 23rd, Soul debuted ‘Detonate’ his first single as a producer. On top of being a musical force, Soul is also a strong advocate and representative for the Aboriginal and LGBT communities.

Award winning artist, Noah Hunt (Lumbee), is a singer-songwriter and producer from Washington State. Before debuting on VH1’s “Make Or Break: The Linda Perry Project,” Noah recorded his first solo EP, “From Me: To: You” in 2012 with producer Sebastian Sheehan Visconti at VAVV Studios, Hollywood California. Soon thereafter, Noah took on the role of producer/engineer by releasing singles and composing for film through 2012-2014 with his studio in Hollywood California, “Endeavor Studios.” In the fall of 2014, through “Endeavor Studios,” Noah Hunt debuted his sophomore EP “Oubliette,” after releasing the EP’s summer single, “Young Blood.” Later on, Noah teamed up with good friend Stuart Shepard of Frozen Flag Apparel to co-design the “Oubliette” clothing line now available at Noah’s live show and Frozen Flag web site.

Po.10.cee (potency) is a Native American hip hop group based in Taos Pueblo, New Mexico. Inspired by the mid 90’s golden era, their sound is versatile combining a mixture of soul and hip hop with a Native American influence. The group began producing beats, writing rhymes, recording, and performing in 2004. Through comedic raps and melodic vocals, they convey political and controversial messages. The eight members bring about a high energy performance from their 20+ album discography, and have toured throughout the U.S. while promoting their movement of truth, art, and unity.

Of Bad River Ojibwe and Standing Rock Lakota decent, PozLyrix was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. The MC was inspired by golden era hip hop and the gritty underground Chicago scene that reflected the era. Developing his craft in the same scene that inspired him has shaped him into the MC that we see before us today. Coming out of the seven Oddities camp, Pozlyrix already has a heavy amount of features under his belt. Collaboration with Scenic Roots and A Walk in the Park productions formed the group “Bottom Dollar Scholars” that gave Poz his first taste of being an MC beyond the studio; releasing a video and traveling around the city of Chicago and the East Coast to hit the stage. As part of the Seven Oddities group “40 oz. Kings”, Pozlyrix expand his music career when the group entered the 2011 “Toast of the coast”, a competition that would give the winner a performance slot at the North Coast Music festival in Chicago. Beating out more than 100 other performers, the “40 oz. Kings” came out on top and were in the 2011 North Coast festival lineup among acts like Common, Rjd2, Wiz Khalifa and David Guetta. Having gained experienced, confidence and expanding his artistic spectrum, Poz has ventured into his first solo effort. Chicago Native is the first solo project for Pozlyrix. A sample heavy album filled with gritty boom bap landscapes allows the MC to paint complex pictures of the life of an MC in an iconic city.

Marcus “Ouese IMC” Frejo was born in Oklahoma. He is from the Wolf band of Pawnee and Bear clan of Seminole Indigenous People. He also has roots from Silao, Guanajuato. Ouese IMC has been writing, performing hiphop since the age of 7. He first per­formed in the 3rd grade, a hip-hop song promoting the D.A.R.E program, which promoted an alcohol and drug-free life. Ouese IMC has lived an alcohol and drug-free life. This choice of a healthy life-style, even within the hip-hop industry has set him apart from others. Ouese explains “I don’t condemn how people live their lives, I live my life alcohol and drug-free because my people were doomed by the attempt from this united states governments use of alcohol as a weapon to destroy our peoples spirits, minds and culture. Besides, we indigenous people don’t have the enzyme to break down alcohol.” Ouese IMC has performed both national and international worldwide and also keynotes and does workshops on topics ranging from cultural awareness, empowerment and lead­ership, hiphop, art and activism, social justice, organizing and healthy lifestyles. He continues to work with and within indigenous communities across the country, as well as inner-city youth programs, high schools, universities, youth conferences, multi-cultural impact building and cultural exchanges. Ouese IMC also works with programs geared towards suicide prevention on and off reser­vation communities.

Ouese IMC is an award winning indigenous hiphop artist. His music has been in film and animation film both major and indepen­dent. He has performed with the likes of Run DMC, Ludacris, Knarles Barkley, Atmosphere, The Pharcyde, Kumbia Kings, DJ Grand­masterflash, Petey Pablo, Clipse, Poor Righteous Teachers, Mos Def and Tinariwen, just to name a few. Ouese IMC is one of the founding members of the world-famous group, Culture Shock Camp. He truly loves the artform of hip-hop expression and uses this instrument to bring forth awareness, consciousness and change within people and communities, not by force but by invitation. When he was only four, Arizona native Quetzal Guerrero AKA QVLN (Q violin) picked up the violin and hasn’t put it down since. As a child and adolescent, Quetzal studied violin at the famous International Academy of the Suzuki Method, in Matsumoto, Japan, and the Conservatorio Pernambucano de Musica in Recife, Brazil. Throughout the years he has become an outstanding multi-instrumentalist and performer– fluid with his voice, guitar, and percussion–as well as an accomplished dancer and Capoeirista.

Rose Red Elk is an international performing arts entertainer, known by her Native American traditional and stage name Red Feather Woman. She is an accomplished storyteller, singer, songwriter and author from the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana, and an enrolled member of the Sioux/Assiniboine Tribes. Red Feather Woman is an award winning recording artist. Her albums are a unique blend of oral traditional spoken word weaving the oral traditions of Native American stories with themed songs. Red Feather Woman has toured extensively throughout the US and abroad. Sponsored by the US State Department, she has performed in Malta, Turkey and Pakistan for audiences numbering in the thousands, earning national media coverage in Pakistan. As a storyteller/musician, blending tales of hope and spiritual survival, Red Feather Woman proved to be a true ambassador of peace and unity throughout eight cities in Turkey and four provinces of Pakistan, including the capital Islamabad.

Red Feather Woman’s latest project is her first comic book series “Empowerment $aga” published by the Department of Interior and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The comic series has six stories, with the central theme of financial management, and its target audience is youth on reservations throughout the US. The characters of shape shifters are utilized to teach teenagers important lessons and experiences about fiscal responsibility. To date Red Feather Woman has three CDs, all as an independent artist, and one short story book entitled “Medicine Stories”. Rose Red Elk resides in Berthoud, Colorado.

A unique blend of refined hip hop music, combined with the soulful vocals of Andrew Decorby, and a six piece live band, Relik offers talent, substance, raw energy and emotion. A gifted wordsmith known for his quick witted and gritty punch-lines, front man Billy LeBlanc, better known as Rellik, is no stranger to adversity and has transcribed his emotional experiences from gaining custody of his children, to the sudden loss of his mother, to political subjects and frustrations with the music industry , into hard hitting lyrics. Rellik has a rare gift in composing lyrics that not only get in your face but get right under your skin. His messages are carefully placed on top of beats carefully arranged so the listener is barely aware of the impact his words bare, often until the second or third take.

Both members being aboriginal, Rellik of Metis descent (French and Native American) was raised on Cree principles, but does not feel the need to write exclusively about his heritage. “While still in touch with our aboriginal roots, I feel the need to write material that all hip hop listeners can relate to regardless of their ethnic background or experiences” said LeBlanc.

For over 15 years, Shaun Anderson has been a dedicated musician exploring various genres of acoustic rock/folk sounds that reflected his life experiences as a young Metis artist. Shaun grew up in Fishing Lake Metis settlement, which is a small Northern Alberta Community with less then 2000 residences. Shaun’s father played the fiddle and lead him into a lifestyle, where he would be surrounded by musicians constantly. At a young age he would decide to pick up a guitar, which shortly became his vessel in the rocky waters of this small Northern Community.

Small Time Giants is the story about four guys starting out as a high school band in South Greenland to be a critically acclaimed band in Denmark.

The band works as a musical collective that moved from South Greenland to Copenhagen to pursue their dream of taking their music from the rehearsal studio to venues around Europe.

Small Time Giants plays highly contrasting emotional post/indie rock with a passion for creating authentic music about both personal and historic tragedies from Greenland.

The epic and energetic sound together with the lyrics full of traces of their cultural identity, has made them a recognized band in Greenland.

A series of praised live shows in several countries bears proof of an active band that have followed their own path in pursue of their dream.

The debut album, Stethoscope, was created with the help of the band’s own fans through crowd funding. The album received praising reviews from music critics and blogs around Greenland and Denmark. The album was later re-released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where it was received just as positively and has made it possible to tour in these countries too.

Spencer Battiest, a Choctaw/Seminole Indian from Florida, grew up singing gospel music and hymns in Miccosukee, Creek, and Choctaw before turning his sights on Pop/R&B. In his vast career, he has performed live on ESPN, ESPN2, HBO, and Showtime. He’s opened for Aerosmith, Sting and The Police and performed in London’s Hyde Park for an audience of over 100,000. Since moving to LA in 2012 Spencer has added acting to his list of accomplishments with Native Voices at the Autry where he stepped into lead roles in the developmental readings of Distant Thunder (a Blackfeet musical), The Day We Were Born, and Champ. This visionary artist strives to promote his Native American heritage by working with other Native artists, producers, and directors.

Stella Standingbear is a musician from Salt Lake City, UT. She currently resides on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Her music is melodic rap that gives an uplifting message. Stella represents the Lakota Nation and is devoted to the MMIW movement. In honor of MMIW and Native American Heritage Month 2022, Stella released her debut single, "Home Runs." Next, the Lakota Star made her debut performance live on Fox13 News Utah. During the interview section with Fox13 News Utah, she spoke about her music, background, and MMIW. As an inspiring artist, Stella has been picking up momentum. Since then, she has released two 2023 singles, "Views" and "My Type." With back-to-back show bookings, upcoming festivals, and workshops approaching. The build-up is leading up to her debut EP, "Still Standing," now out on all streaming platforms.

StenJoddi (which means “Native” in the Mvskoke Creek Language) is an enrolled member of the Mvskoke Creek & Seminole Nations of Oklahoma. An emerging native hip-hop artist, StenJoddi fell in love with music early in his life, but was most drawn to hip-hop, rap, and R&B immediately relating to the stories and lyrics. His love for hip-hop created a burning desire within himself to begin crafting his own style of lyrical wordplay, clever storytelling, effortless flow, & distinct tone that would later set him apart from the crowded field of up & coming “rap” artists nationwide. More importantly, StenJoddi gives an amplified voice to a unique, untold story of Native struggle and survival that has gone untold in hip-hop far too long.

Stun, originally known as Winston Chubb, is an aboriginal hiphop artist from Oxford House, Manitoba. Raised in the city of Winnipeg, he has collected numerous amounts of experience from the gangster lifestyle to the preppy school boy, but with his culture embedded in him, he was able to hold on to his soul. Growing up around love and racism, the young man had gained knowledge from all types of influential individuals, finding a passion for music through a troubled youth. It was considered the best outlet for a way to speak from the heart, and so he did. He went on showcasing his talent around house parties and close friends with nothing but good reactions in return. He then started chasing this dream that had been implanted into his brain, carrying a family on his back while displaying the modern aboriginal lifestyle. Over the years he had established his name in the city by performing at local night clubs, making it quite known that he was a talented man that did not waste any time. With no one but his family behind him, he stands with life’s realism and how it affected and influenced him to become who he is.

Ask Tall Paul why he felt it was his purpose to emcee. Don’t expect the conventional “Nas and 2pac made me do it” kind of answer. “I started writing rhymes when I was 14. I was left in awe by 106th & Park’s ‘Freestyle Friday’ rap battle segment. When Jin won for 7 consecutive weeks, capping it off by signing a record deal with the Ruff Ryders, it was crazy. I didn’t actually start writing until shortly after that, when I saw my cousin spittin’ into a tape recorder one day. From that point on I just liked the release that it gave me. The lure of the rock star lifestyle that rappers exhibited in music videos was cool too (laughs).”

Born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, Tall Paul grew up listening to hip hop from all regions. “As a kid I was listening to whoever my brothers and cousins were listening to – Snoop, 2Pac, Biggie, The Fugees, the Luniz, Bone Thugs, Twista and the Speedknot Mobstaz, DMX (sigh), and the list goes on.” This would ultimately help to mold the fatherless style of flow that he now commands.

His bilingual Ojibwe-English hit single titled “Prayers in a Song” garnered over 200,000 YouTube views within it’s first 2 weeks of release. The song can be found on his first project from 2010, entitled ‘Brothers: From Different Fathers and Mothers,’ which was independently released with his former group mate G.Malicious as the duo ‘Point of Contact’.

When you listen to Tall Paul’s music, it’s clear that he’s unafraid to test boundaries that many shy away from. “I’m a no good good guy (laughs). I might help an elderly person cross the street with their groceries, but I’ll be looking back at the rearview on the sexy lady who just walked by at the same time (laughs).” In other words, expect to hear conscious, yet honest lyricism, placed over the beat selection of an individual who vows to only release his highest quality music.

For over 40 years, actor, singer, producer, activist, Tom Jackson has crafted a compassionate stage of caring. He has embraced his life experiences, championed for the marginalized, and entertained a continent of concert-goers and TV watchers. His acumen has earned him recognition amongst his peers, yet he humbly perseveres as it’s the reward he seeks, not the award.

Born to an English father and Cree mother, he carries the legacy of his parents’ selfless manner of keeping the door open for anyone who might need a meal or a conversation. While living on the streets of Winnipeg, his personal search for identity led to bonds with that outcast and marginalized. His voice became his way off the streets – figuratively and literally – and in to radio stations, television studios, film sets and theatres.

His mantra of being in service to others is secured with his choice to engage if it’s good business, good for the world, and good for the soul. He can light up a room with his storytelling, endearing humor and self-penned tunes. He can inspire, uplift and entertain 10 or 10,000 and the gifts he shares, he carries from his ancestry, his life and his loves.

“Fly Like An Eagle” is Trini Lopez’s very first official music video.  In the fifty years as an international superstar and musical icon, with over a dozen hit records, he has never had the opportunity to express his music through the medium of film or video.  But here is that “first” – the premiere of the Trini Lopez music video, and featuring a stellar comeback performance!

Singing an amazing cover of Steve Miller’s classic hit, “Fly Like an Eagle”, director Chip Miller, shot Trini at numerous locations throughout Southern Califiornia – from the Santa Rosa National Mountains in La Quinta, to Salvation Mountain in Niles, to Palm Springs, to LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) in LA.  And Trini delivered the goods as can be witnessed here in his debut video performance of the first single off his recent CD, “Into The Future!”

In 2016, the video tested successfully on Youtube, and was prepared for television broadcast.  Beginning March 2017, Trini’s new video will commence airing on FNX Channel (First Nations Television), and on their all music video network, AUX.  Future television plans include MTV Europe and numerous Spanish audience networks.  In the late Spring 2017, the full concert will be completed and also air on FNX Channel.  Dates to be announced

Currently, Trini can be seen in, along with a host of musical guests, on the 2017 PBS Kingston Trio special, “The Kingston Trio Celebration: An All-Star Concert”, joining guests: Timothy B. Schmit of The Eagles, Al Jardine of The Beach Boys, Barry “Eve of Destruction” McGuire (The New Christy Minstrels), The Limeliters, Josh Reynolds (son of Trio’s late Nick Reynolds), Sana Christian, Henry Diltz (The Modern Folk Quartet), and Shari Belafonte, along with a rare appearance by Trio co-founder, the legendary Bob Shane.  The concert was taped at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood and is seen on KVCR TV, and dozens of other national PBS affiliate networks.

Trini still tours and sounds great, as can be evidenced on our Kingston Trio PBS special, and especially here in this music video, a wonderful new chapter in a colorful career.

Anishinabe electro-pop artist Wolf Saga is influenced by 1980’s music of all genres as well as contemporary indie pop rock. Saga’s music is definitely a blend of the genres he enjoys most.  His 2015 EP Auburn Nights released on Handsome Boy, has been on the Canadian Aboriginal chart since its release and recently hit the No. 1 spot.

Born Cameron Jude Monkman, this Winnipeg-Native found his passion for music at the age of 7, when he was given his first electronic piano as a gift from his grandparents. At Birth, Cameron was faced with Medical Complications which had a serious impact on his life as well as his family. Cameron wasnt expected to live. With the luck of a miracle, Cameron started to make positive progress, despite his childhood demons. Music had essentially become a household influence and it eventually inspired him to write songs of the struggles he had faced at birth. As a youth, Cameron often found himself mixed with the wrong crowds that would encourage him to drink, experiment with drugs and associate with gangs. After discovering his true passion for music, Cameron began to turn his life around because he had realized that he was worth more than just an acohol bottle. In 2008, Cameron moved to Toronto and to became an active support in Indigenous community, and to pursue his career in the Music and Film Industry. It was clear his music had begun to inspire people. Today, Cameron writes and performs songs about indigenous issues and often organizes events. Cameron has received international attention and is followed by fans who continue to support him.
